How to choose a diamond ring
Of all possible diamond jewelery, rings are perhaps the most popular. Virtually any jewelry store can present dozens of models of rings with stones of various sizes and shapes to choose from, so sometimes buying is a real problem. A diamond ring is a costly acquisition, which is why it is so important not to make a mistake and make the right decision.
Attention to the diamond!
Any diamond is evaluated on four grounds – weight (Carat), purity (Clarity), color (Color), and cut quality (Cut). Once you understand the subtleties, it will be much easier for you to choose rings and other jewels with diamonds. To save money, you can always buy a diamond with slightly worse characteristics – for example, a weight not in 1, but 0.9 carats, in color not F, but following G. By eye, it is absolutely impossible to determine the differences without special devices and specialist participation. and the cost of diamonds is very different.
Think what is most important for you – the size of a stone or the absence of even the slightest inclusions in it, absolute transparency or quality of polishing. The better cut a diamond is, the more spectacular it plays in the sun and in artificial light. White gold and diamonds rings are in fashion now, so the stone should be chosen whiter, so that the yellowness was not noticeable against the background of the noble metal.
Even if the stone in the ring completely satisfied you for cleanliness and carat, do not rush to pay for the purchase. Try on the ring again and see how it looks on your hand. A wide palm will look a bit narrower if the ring has a slightly elongated shape. In this case, the marquise cut diamonds with pointed tips or a softer oval cut are ideal. The elongated narrow “pears” also look good, and the rim should not be too massive. With this solution, the fingers will visually become slightly longer and sleeker.
For women with thin fingers, we can recommend diamond rings with a classic round cut in the original frame. Perhaps you will like pear-shaped stones or elegant square diamonds (“Usher”, “Cushion”, “Princess”) cut. The diamonds of the “Radiant” and “Emerald” recently also began to be used to create rings. However, when buying such jewelry it is necessary to take into account the openness of the cut, which allows to see all the defects of the stone, even with the naked eye.
A very effective option is a diamond enclosed in a multilayer frame with asymmetrical layers. Such a frame favorably emphasizes the luxury of the stone, its brilliance and the play of light reflected by gold. But too wide a frame does not suit the owners of thin fingers, yet its size should be proportional to the hand. But women with large palms were lucky – they are perfect jewelry with a few diamonds and multi-level rim.
Frame design is especially important for small stones that need a decent frame. A solid diamond is gorgeous and in complete solitude – the effect of a stone, as if suspended above a gold rim, jewelers achieve using a speckled or spring bartack. In the first case, the stone gently hold a few barely noticeable paws, and the more of them, the larger the diamond seems. In the second, the stone is held in small sections of the girdle inserted into the grooves of the rim of the ring. Both methods of fixing are not very suitable for active wear, but after all, a large diamond is a sign of a holiday, not everyday life.
It may also happen that a diamond that is perfect in its characteristics and appearance will not be the best for you. Choose a diamond ring with a heart, not a mind. A diamond may not have perfect proportions, it may not have the best purity and color, but on your hand it will look as if it was always there.
